HOW WE WORK

On the ground, WDRC facilitates new public-private partnerships, supports community advocacy, and helps to elevate existing networks for more effective community engagement. WDRC studies, initiatives, and fundraising efforts bring partners and the community together to implement solutions and policy that address the top priorities and immediate needs in West Denver.

All WDRC community outreach, strategies, and implementation are pursued collaboratively with local community members and partners including the West Denver Community Leadership Committee (WDCLC), and responds to the top priorities identified by the community:

The West Denver Renaissance Collaborative encourages and supports community-driven efforts to address the most pressing issues in west Denver. All WDRC efforts are conceived and approached using a thorough community engagement process that empowers community leaders to organize and deliver community-driven solutions to address the most pressing issues in west Denver today.

Engaging directly with the west Denver community members is the only way we could understand what is most important to the community, and is the only way we could leverage the work currently led by numerous local partners in west Denver.

The WDRC approach is a district-focused effort to discover, collaborate, strategize, align, scale, integrate, evaluate, and advocate on behalf of west Denver.

Community engagement is based on the belief that those who are affected by a decision have a right to be involved in the decision-making process. Community engagement:

  • includes the promise that the public’s contribution will influence decision making

  • promotes sustainable decisions by recognizing and communicating the needs and interests of all participants, including decision makers

  • seeks out and facilitates the involvement of those potentially affected by or interested in a decision

  • seeks input from participants in designing how they participate

  • provides participants with the information they need to participate in a meaningful way

  • communicates to participants how their input affects decision making

The process and every action involved is done with integrity.
